Iğdır University Environmental Problems Application and Research Center, affiliated to Iğdır University Presidency, was established on March 3, 2011, in accordance with subparagraph (2) of paragraph (d) of article 7 and article 14 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 dated 11/4/1981. The purpose of the establishment of the center is to ensure the protection and development of natural and cultural values ​​and the use of natural resources in accordance with ecological principles with an ecosystem-centered approach, to develop strategies to prevent all types of environmental pollution, to produce and implement projects, to prepare reports, to develop ecological thinking habits within the scope of environmental awareness and to transform them into a way of life, to carry out education-training and publication studies within and outside the University in order to spread ecological ethics, to accelerate the production of knowledge and technology by establishing working groups on floristic and faunistic, renewable clean energy sources such as wind and solar energy, water resources, plant resources, soil resources, constructed ecosystems, waste management, atmosphere, animal resources and similar research topics by taking into account the characteristics of the region in the very comprehensive subjects of ecology and environmental sciences, to conduct interdisciplinary scientific and technological research and applications in environmental fields, to develop methods and suggestions for the solution of environmental problems and to apply them, to transfer the results of the studies to relevant institutions at home and abroad, to conduct publications, training, consultancy and projects on the subject of the environment.
